Toya D. Everett

Vice president, Strategy & business alignment

Toya has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, driving enterprise-wide strategy, and delivering measurable operational results for Fortune 500 organizations.

As Vice President of Strategy & Business Alignment for D.A. Everett Construction Group (DAECG), Toya is responsible for spearheading the execution of the CEO’s vision. She leads the development of the company’s overall business strategy. She works closely with her brother, President & CEO Donovan Everett, serving as a CEO advisor and confidant, and leading organizational design and market expansion. Toya drives alignment across business functions — including HR, recruiting, accounting, technology, and legal — translating the company’s strategic vision into scalable operational execution, with direct oversight of media relations, brand management, partnerships and philanthropy. In this role, she also works closely with DAECG’s construction operations teams, providing executive-level support that keeps strategy, risk management, and execution closely aligned.

Toya grew up alongside Donovan in the family business, learning the business and exposed to the construction industry firsthand. That early foundation, paired with her business education and corporate leadership experience, laid the groundwork for a career defined by the same discipline and vision that now shapes her role at DAECG.

Prior to her current role, Toya served as a D.A. Everett Construction Group Executive Advisory Board Member and executive advisor to the President & CEO. In this capacity, she was instrumental in the development of DAECG’s overall business strategy, increasing brand visibility and company recognition, and helping the firm become more strategic in its corporate partnerships and community impact.

Most recently, Toya was a global leader at CBRE, where she started in Global Workplace Solutions supporting the Bank of America and UPS accounts before transitioning into Corporate Functions. She has a strong business acumen, is experienced in strategy development and operational excellence, and has been recognized for building and leading high-performing teams. Over her career, Toya managed operational, contractual, and vendor risk; implemented and managed $120M+ savings programs within facilities management; and built out and led global operations. She has managed client relationships with Fortune 500 companies and worked closely with C-suite and business executives to develop global business strategies, partnering with global heads of business functions — HR, Talent, Legal, Communications, Digital & Technology, and more — to lead cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Toya has a proven track record of increasing diversity within the commercial real estate industry and driving inclusion. She was a trailblazer in partnering with national organizations such as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), Forage, and Project Destined to create internship and immersion programs that exposed nearly one thousand individuals to industry knowledge and career paths.

Toya is a servant leader deeply engaged in the Charlotte community where she is engages in economic development initiatives and programs supporting the region’s small and diverse business owners.  Toya has served on numerous boards and steering committees: CoreNet Carolinas Board, LIFESPAN Services Board, President of the Charlotte Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Charlotte Post Foundation Board, Johnson C. Toya earned her B.A. in Communication from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Queens University – McColl School of Business, Charlotte, NC.  Toya currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
