Donovan A. Everett
PRESIDENT & CEO
Donovan Everett brings more than 25 years of experience in commercial construction, with a proven track record of delivering over $2 billion in successful projects across the Southeast and beyond. As President and Chief Executive Officer of D.A. Everett Construction Group, Donovan is the driving force behind the company’s vision, growth, and operational excellence. He oversees executive leadership, sets strategic priorities, and ensures the firm maintains its commitment to fiscal responsibility and high-performance project delivery.
A builder at heart, Donovan was born into the industry—literally. He began managing construction projects for his father’s firm at just 15 years old. That early foundation laid the groundwork for a career built on grit, discipline, and vision. While earning his business degree at North Carolina State University, he gained hands-on experience with one of the region’s largest commercial real estate developers. After graduation, Donovan joined Balfour Beatty, a global construction management firm, where he spent a decade leading large-scale, complex projects.
In 2013, Donovan took the leap and founded D.A. Everett Construction Group. Under his leadership, the firm has experienced extraordinary growth, building a portfolio of award-winning work and earning recognition as one of the fastest-growing and largest Black-owned businesses in the Charlotte area. In 2023, the company ranked #5 on the Charlotte Business Journal’s List of Largest Black-Owned Businesses and was named to the CBJ’s Fast 50. In 2024, Donovan was honored as one of Charlotte Business Journal’s Most Admired CEOs.
A passionate community and industry advocate, Donovan serves on the Triangle Board of First Bank of North Carolina, the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas, and the Dean’s Executive Advisory Council for the College of Business and Professional Studies at Johnson C. Smith University. He is a former board member of the NW Cary YMCA and The Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. Donovan holds a B.S. in Business from NC State, is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is licensed as a General Contractor in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Donovan is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
